Some stucco repairs are simple. Others require removing loose material, rebuilding damaged areas, or installing new stucco over a properly prepared surface. We explain what your wall needs before work starts.
Stucco protects the exterior of a home or building. It also adds texture, color, and curb appeal when the work is done correctly. Watch for cracks, crumbling areas, soft spots, staining, loose patches, or broken chunks of stucco.
The concern is moisture behind the finish. Water damage, trapped moisture, and wood rot can sit behind stucco walls without being obvious from the outside. That is why a good repair checks the surrounding detail, not just the damaged spot.
The stucco process depends on the wall and the repair. Lathing may be the first step when the project requires it. A scratch coat is commonly made with sand and cement. Cure time depends on the material, weather, and product used. The color coat helps define the final texture and color.
Stucco repairs in Metro Detroit should usually be handled when temperatures are above 40°F unless the material and site conditions allow otherwise. If conditions are not right, it is better to schedule the repair when the material can bond and cure properly.
Not every damaged area needs full replacement. A clean repair may be enough when the surrounding stucco is solid. Larger repairs may be needed when the material is loose, cracked across a wider area, or damaged behind the surface.
Paint is not stucco repair. We do not do painting. Paint can change color, but it will not fix failed stucco, damaged materials, or moisture problems behind the wall.
